Proposals are sought to develop a software product that can be used to manage a persons pending tasks. The basic concept involves a master task list which can be organized and displayed based on the following criteria: • Time ??" The software must come bundled in such a way that it can be easily installed on both Mac OSX and all versions of windows. 3 User Interface The software is a simple tool that is intended to be used on a daily basis. Its layout should mimic that in ‘Things OSX’ with improvements where possible. If you have any suggested additional features please advice these in your proposal. We should not however copy ‘The user interface of “Things?? as that would breach copyright. Please include in your proposal details of the graphic designer who will do the interface / icon design. We expect to see several (at least 5 conceptual options) of interface design before signing off on the one we prefer. We are looking for a clean minimal look that is modern and fresh. The chosen interface must be readily changeable in future. Alternatively we would be interested in a solution that was ‘skin-able’ with at least 3 bespoke designed skins. 4 Integration The program needs to interface with Outlook the same way things interfaces with Mac OSX - pull in contacts from outlook - from outlook an email can be used to generate a task - delegate tasks to contacts ( and track) Tasks must be able to be generated from within other programs with a keyboard shortcut /left mouse menu or some dock icon. If installed on OSX the program needs to interface with Mac OSX mail and calendar in the same way ‘Things’ does 5 Source Code and Intellectual Property Rights. The developer is to hand over the source code and all Intellectual Property Rights to the client on completion prior to final payment release. 6 Sync Functions As well as syncing the calendar function with Outlook/OSX Mail The software must also be able to sync with Handheld versions for Apple i-phone / i-pod touch If the developer is experienced in i-phone / i-pad app. development please include a note to this effect together with a separate price for the i-phone / i-pad app. app development which ideally will be done at the same time. Again the i-phone app needs to follow closely the “Things?? i-phone app (with some subtle modifications/improvements to avoid copyright issues) Note- developers should take note of apples new rules regarding development of apps. to ensure it complies with apple's pre-qualifications for acceptance on the apple app store. 3.3.1 ??" Applications may only use Documented APIs in the manner prescribed by Apple and must not use or call any private APIs. Applications must be originally written in Objective-C, C, C++, or JavaScript as executed by the iPhone OS WebKit engine, and only code written in C, C++, and Objective-C may compile and directly link against the Documented APIs (e.g., Applications that link to Documented APIs through an intermediary translation or compatibility layer or tool are prohibited). 7 Languages The software needs to be available in the following languages: English, French, Spanish, German, Japanese, Chinese ,Russian 8 Protection The software must be designed in such a way that is very difficult to hack. The software should be available as a demo version limited to 20 tasks and 30 days trial use. Following this the software needs to be activated with a license key. The software designer will work with the clients web designer to put a technical solution to this. 9 Previous Work Examples To make a meaningful decision please include links/images of your best 3 software designs with your proposal. 10 Bugs missing functionality and Defects The software designer will be responsible to fix all bugs missing functionality and defects for 3 months from delivery of the final product and release of IPR. 11 Ongoing Maintenance and updates The software designer should include a daily rate to do any subsequent modifications to the software. 12 Other Examples There are several examples of this type of software available for windows however none of them come close to ‘Things?? in terms of design ease of use and functionality [login to view URL] has one example (easy task manager) however it is severely lacking in many areas.
