Purpose
Jamistry is to be designed as a resource for musicians to connect to each other as well as to their audience.
The Musician Connection
Ads for musicians searching for bands can be placed at this segment of the website; bands looking for musicians can be placed also. The ads will have links to the band’s/musician’s profile within the website. This is particularly useful for the browser to see if the musician/band fits their needs. A forum would also be amongst this segment.
Classifieds
Employers and sellers can place ads here.
Profiles
Artists and bands can make a customizable mini site here to advertise their selves. Each site will be limited to a few pages to place news, band info, and a forum. The users will also be able to have music clips available to browsers. Users will have the choice between basic and advanced options. Basic options are the “bare bones” to customizing the website. Advance options will have much more fancy features to adjust.
[The profiles could be connected to the Musician connection. Meaning you could have them create a profile by filling out a questionnaire about who they are, and what they want. For instance you could have them select that they are a bass player looking for a rock band in Houston.]
Storefront
Users have the option of creating a storefront. This service will have a charge. A $15-$25 monthly fee as well as a 2% transaction fee will be implemented. Should I handle a small inventory or should the inventory ship straight from band. If the band holds inventory, how can I track it? [The storefront could sell mp3's direct to the customer for download.]
Event Calendar
Musical events can be posted at this portion of the site. For a nominal fee events can be showcased, much like Google’s AdWords.
At the moment I am designing a mock site to give the developer a general idea of what I want. Before designing starts I will be able to produce a site map and the mock site.
