Magento Serial Code Module Modification

We currently use a serial code module for our Magento store. We are looking at increasing the functionality of this to work better within our warehouse. We would like to have the ability to use EAN barcodes to pick and compare against before scanning the serial numbers of the items that need to be dispatched. We use the Serial Code module from ModifyMage and when viewing an order, we are able to insert Serial Codes into the order based on the item that the customer purchased. We would like to be able to pull the EAN code from the product information table. We would then like to have a EAN entry code field that will be empty. The idea would be that the warehouse operator scan's the EAN number into the entry code field and a comparison is made to the stored EAN for validation to make sure it is the right product. Should the EAN numbers not match, a pop-up should be happen telling the warehouse operator the the EAN doesnt match. We would then want the cursor to automatically cycle between the serial number entry and EAN for the warehouse operator to scan each product into the the order form.
