196981 Inventory reporting C#/.NET2.0

This project consists in implementing “Lokad Safety Stock Calculator” (LSSC) is a simple reporting application in C#/WinForms/.NET 2.0 under Visual Studio 2005. The application is focusing on retailers or manufacturers who need to optimize their inventory (too much inventory and money is wasted, too few inventory and they have nothing to sell). In a nutshell, LSSC displays a single report (a table) with one product per line. Each line contains past sales, forecasted sales and a couple of inventory indicators. The user can manually enter a few fields in the report such as the supplier names. This application leverages the online Lokad forecasting services to provide a safety stock report. The following elements must be considered • This project does not require any domain knowledge about inventory management or sales forecasting. Those elements are “encapsulated” into classes that will be implemented by the Lokad team. • The project will be implemented as open source and released under the BSD license. A skeleton for the application has already been designed. The code is available in the SVN repository of the Lokad project on [login to view URL] ([login to view URL]). • The architecture chosen for LSSC follows a model-view-controller pattern. The model has been designed (that's the existing skeleton). Most of the work will happen on the view and controller. • LSSC is an extension of “Lokad Desktop Sales Forecasting” already released as open source (see [login to view URL] ). The codebases of the two applications have been separated, but the “old” application code is available. To be delivered The following elements are to be delivered (details provided in the following) • A complete implementation of the model-view-controller pattern that has already been drafted. • A complete implementation the WinForm application named as LSSC that wraps the model-view-controller pattern. • An inventory adapter for osCommerce in MySQL under .NET (a MySQL dump will be provided), plus a mock adapter for testing only. • A WiX script to generate a MSI installer. All the delivered code is expected to be documented and compliant with the coding guidelines that apply to every .NET applications. IMPORTANT: We are looking for a recurrent relationship because this specification is just the V1. We are already planning more features for the future. Also, the only supported application for the V1 is osCommerce, but we are planning to support many other applications as well.
