Hello, What I would do is - convert the excel database into MySQL - export this table/database into where the Wordpress database resides - create a section inside the Wordpress Admin Dashboard that will connect to the new database table/s - this is where you can add/edit/delete items, if necessary - create the search page on the website's frontend functioning as described in the 2 "Example Queries" - this way, the new database table/s is completely integrated with Wordpress. Your scenario is actually a good and common one. The migration of data to a more structured and safe platform is something I am very experienced in and love doing. Also, since I am a MS Certified trainer I can guide you and develop you throughout the process. Regarding your points of interest: 1) I would need to know what is the current infrastructure in place to make a suggestion of the actual roll out onto servers, but I can tell you that a good idea would be to use something like Microsoft Access to build and structure the data first. Once done, it can be split and exported to a MySQL instance with ease. 2) Integrating in with point 1 I would strongly suggest Microsoft Access as the app of choice. Firstly, during the whole design and development phase you would already be building the database and front end, streamlining the whole process to the point where once you are done with the back end, you are also done with the front end. It saves time, and money. 3) Continuing on from point 2, Access has a very intuitive query designer with the ability to give feedback in structured clean forms. Ideal for your use.
