NRGI is seeking a freelance, part-time website content management consultant to work with its communications staff. The consultant will be paid by the hour and will work remotely. The new web content consultant will report to the London-based communications director, and liaise with New York-based communications and IT staff. Primary modes of communication between the consultant and staff will be email, Skype and Slack. The consultant will: • Execute communications staff requests for placement of and edits to content for NRGI’s Drupal-based website, using the content management system; these content nodes include text, imagery, data embeds, downloadables (e.g., Excel files, PDFs) • Manage the taxonomy of tags, and apply individual tags to content • Manage site analytics and responds to staff requests for analytics reports • Perform troubleshooting on glitches, irregularities, rendering problems, search results • Maintain a list of future development tasks • Liaise with Drupal developers and back-end/hosting vendors • Edit images for use on the site • Offer training and best practice advice to staff when needed Essential technical proficiencies: • Drupal 7 (expert) • Photoshop (proficient) • Server and scripting language knowledge (SOLR) • Project management Key characteristics: • Responsive (work is often ad hoc) • Clear communicator • Fluency in spoken and written English For that purpose, candidates should indicate whether they possess the following non-essential but desirable proficiencies: • WordPress • InDesign • Audio/video editing • Copy editing • Graphic design • GIF animation • YouTube channel management • Photo research (stock services, newswires, Creative Commons) • Dashboard design and management (for online communications metrics)
