Data Entry Project about Scandals

I am a social scientist working for a major research university in Europe. My research group and I are looking for a skilled freelancer to help us with a research project on the effects of scandals on organizations. The nature of the job makes good English reading comprehension skills essential. Otherwise, the project is a relatively straightforward data entry task which consists of retrieving information from a website and entering it into a spreadsheet in a standard, pre-specified format. We are planning to use information about cases of sex abuse in the Catholic Church for a research project, but to do so we need information about individual scandals and the clergymen involved. The required output thus consists of two spreadsheets: one with information about the priests accused of misconduct, and one with media coverage information. CODING PROCEDURE 1. Access the Bishop Accountability database at this address: [login to view URL] . The Web page reports a list of Catholic dioceses in the United States, together with a detailed list of priests who faced allegations of improper behavior in each diocese and newspaper sources for the allegations. 2. For each diocese, first enter into Excel all of the information available about each priest (see the attached file). 3. In the "misconduct" column, enter the decade in which the first case of abuse allegedly took place. For instance, the first priest in the database was "accused of molesting a 12 yr old boy in 1960s", therefore 1960s should be entered. As for the second priest, he was "removed in 2002 after he was accused of inappropriate contact with girl, age 14, more than 25 yrs previously", so 1970s should be entered, and so forth. You can read the available sources to determine when the misconduct took place. If no information at all is available, enter "NA". 4. In the "sources" column, enter the number of newspaper articles available about the priest in the Source/Assignments column of the web page. If no information at all is available, enter 0. Also, where available, enter the URLs of said articles in the “url1”, “url2”, etc. columns. 5. In the "first" and "last" columns, insert the year of the first and last newspaper article covering the clergyman, as reported in the Source/Assignments column of the web page. If no information at all is available, enter "NA". 6. Now open each newspaper article associated with the clergyman by clicking on the hyperlinks in the rightmost column. 7. For each article enter into Excel: the title, the date, and the newspaper in which it was published (which appears in the hyperlink) as well as the diocese it covers. See the attached CSV files for examples referring to the first diocese in the sample (Birmingham, AL). This procedure must be repeated for all dioceses in the database.
