Produce a (demo) demonstration of DNP3 meter reading using a PC.
Two demo programs are be required - a DNP3 master and a DNP3 outstation. They can both run on the same PC. They will communicate with each other via RS232 (e.g. USB rs232 interfaces are OK). You can test either with simulated rs232 or a null-modem cable.
A simple reading of the energy values (current meter readings) is required for the demo. So the master sends commands over the rs232 connection to the outstation and the outstation returns the energy values.
There is a set of software which I believe does 99% of this job - it is called "open-dnp3". I expect you would use open-dnp3 for this demo. open-dnp3 provides a complete build of software and includes master/slave communications in its test suite.
I would prefer the demo programs to run on windows but linux is acceptable but please justify this choice. open-dnp3 should build on windows. (I have built it on linux using the latest release).
I think that a dnp3 'expert' will find this a simple exercise.
