Developing a Custom Browser Bookmarklet (Javascript & jQuery)

I am looking to develop a browser bookmarklet to help my users make sure that they go through my affiliate url for the site they are on. ## Deliverables **I am looking to develop a browser bookmarklet to help my users make sure that they remember to go through my affiliate url for the shopping site they are currently on. For now, I will have about 20 sites to direct to my affiliate urls.** **I have some features I'd like the bookmarklet to have, however, because of the inherent limitations of browser bookmarklets, I understand that not all of them will be possible. Feedback is requested.** **1. I want to have an alert box or some other visual cue when the site that the user is currently on is in the list of sites with an affiliate link. Then the user knows when they can click on the bookmarklet to trigger the redirect to the affiliate url.** **2. Load the "site url = affiliate url" list from an external url - so that we can keep it updated easily.** **3. There will be an additional unique subid affiliate code... I will use php to output the bookmarklet js and insert this subid code dynamically into the jscript when it is output to the page, but the js itself needs to use this code as the value for certain parameters in the url list (it varies by ad network/affiliate exactly what the additional tracking parameter name is).** **4. Use an icon for the bookmarklet - As far as I know, this only works for Firefox. Info is here: [login to view URL]** **5. Of course, the bookmarklet should work for the major browsers (IE, Firefox, Chrome) - preferably the current version and at least one major version before it.** **Update: Crossrider looks like it'll work out very well for this project: [login to view URL]** **It seems that using Crossrider to develop the needed functionality may be a good middle-ground solution between a simple bookmarklet and a full browser addon/extension.**
