Challenging Firefox Extension

We need a Firefox extension that will function very similarly to Google Notebook (dl [dot] google [dot] com/firefox/[url removed, login to view]). It will send parts of the displayed text in view to our server and display a reply in a floating mini-frame. Please familiarize yourself with Google Notebook before considering this job - it does not use XPCOM, just pure Javascript. 1. Input would be in two possible modes, according to user preference: 1.1. Manual selection of text and clicking a “Submit?? button in the mini-frame. 1.2. The user will sweep over the text with the mouse pointer while reading it, and at the end of each line or sentence the last chunk will be posted to the server. While in “sweeping?? mode, the background of the text over which the user is sweeping should be lightly shaded in grey to visually indicate that it has been picked up. See note below. 2. The message to the server should be a post easily accepted by a PHP script (may use AJAX). 3. For some postings there will be a reply from the server that should be shown in the mini-frame with several buttons. When the user presses a button in the mini-frame a corresponding message will be sent to the server. Some results may include an object, e.g. a small Flash movie that should be automatically played once downloaded. * If option 1.2 seems to you too complicated, please make a bid without it and mention how much extra to implement it also. Please present the options for implementation in terms of simplicity and vs. performance, especially for considering using AJAX. * Please relate to whether you would use GWT ([url removed, login to view]) or other toolkits for AJAX, if at all we’ll use it. * Deadline could be flexible. If it poses a real problem for you please give us your estimated time and why it would take so long, and we’ll consider it. * We expect very good quality code and documentation, with future extensibility in mind.

## Deliverables

1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.

2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows? (depending on the nature? of the deliverables):

a)? For web sites or? other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.

b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software? installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.

3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).
