Add Registration and Login to Website

I have an existing design of a website which is strictly the site.

I need you to set up the registration and login for the site.

The registration should use Captcha.

There is no database set up yet, so you need to do this.

The User should register with First Name, Last Name, Nickname, EMail, Password and optional comment.

The User should get a verification Email.

Passwords need to be secured, so no clear text.

I do not know much about the login process but I want to be able to have the User logged in for a while. I heard about sessions but if there is something better I am open for this so please suggest it if you know about it.

In the long run I need to have the Users data accessable when he is browsing the website and can access parts of the site only when he is logged on.

I need this done now and I am available for questions.
