I need a PC-based application that can be configured to use a PC modem to dial into proprietary digital dictation systems (Lanier, Dictaphone, etc.) and automatically play and record dictation voice files that have been saved on the dictation system. These types of systems use specific combinations of telephone keypad entries to control the operation of the system. This application must be able to store telephone numbers, retrieve and dial those numbers, generate the correct keypad combination to retrieve dictation voice files, start playing a file while simultaneously recording the audio on the PC's hard drive, generate the correct tones to sign off each voice file as it is finished, generate the appropriate tone to open the next file, etc., until there are no more files to retrieve, then generate the correct tone to completely sign off the system. The application must then be able to compress the saved voice files using an audio codec which the operator has preselected, then save the compressed files to a directory selected by the operator. The application should be able to save multiple different "profiles" allowing the operator to program the application to access different types of dictation systems at different times of the day or week, allowing the operator to schedule different profiles to run at specific dates and times. Ideally this project needs someone who is already familiar with proprietary digital dictation systems, or at the very least someone who can obtain the appropriate tone requirements for the major dictation system manufacturers.
