I have extensive experience with Python having been working with it on several project for different companies in the last three years. I used Lucene and Solr in the past and worked with Linux both as a user and as a sysadmin. I have a lot of Python experience and are willing to boost my knowledge of Hadoop. Currently I only ran through tutorials. Probably there will be interesting problems with installing of Hadoop, usage of Solr.
