Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Reader programmer needed

Hi all,
I'm working for a project for my company that try to make the office paperless. I've heard that you could write Javascripts on top of Adobe Acrobat (and possibly Adobe Reader) to automate certain tasks. If you have related experiences please contact me. I need a few simple programs on top of Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader as a proof of concept. I have the below two thoughts but if you have more ideas please let me knows.
1. A help button in a pdf file, when click, a dialog box would pop providing some text information.
2. A program that search specific text in a column, and highlight the text if found.
