I am looking to establish a long term relationship with a competent, reasonably priced programmer to help me with desktop gui type work. This project is in AS3, but I don't require you to know it up front. If you have decent experience programming WinForms in C# or your favorite Java widget framework, I can get you setup with the FlashDevelop and get the hang of the "hello world" code base examples easily. On the other hand, if you are already good at AS3 or other ActionScript dialects, great. Anyway, so here is a component to start with. Very simple, but work adds up and I will have a lot more in the future. To the left we have a big canvass which holds picture boxes - sort of like a PowerPoint slide with randomly scattered picture boxes. To the right we have a listbox with names of pictures available, a preview panel and a few other widgets. When we select a picture from listbox, if it is already loaded, it is displayed in the preview panel. Then we can press button and insert this picture onto the canvass. We can do it couple of times - just putting multiple picture boxes onto the canvass for the same image. Now, the problem is that not all pictures are loaded at any given time. There are 3 ways in which a picture can get loaded: CONTINUED IN DELIVERABLES
## Deliverables
CONTINUED FROM DESCRIPTION - loaded immediately with bitmap, name and url, at the press of a button. You will basically input its name into a textbox and generate a bitmap based on that for simplicity (in real life it would be uploaded via javascript). Url in this case is immaterial but you will display a mock one in the gui. - loaded with the name only, without bitmap or url. In this case the name is added to the listbox with a marker signifying absence of the picture. Subsequently you can assign to it a bitmap by pressing a button (simulating user upload of the file) - loaded with the name and url and no bitmap. Here, similarly, the bitmap can be added subsequently by pressing a button, emulating picture being downloaded via the url and uploaded into the AS3 app It should be possible to add picture boxes to canvass regardless of whether a particular picture is already uploaded or only exists as a name without bitmap. In the later case the picture box will contain a placeholder image and the name of the picture. But after the corresponding picture gets its bitmap uploaded, you will update all the derived picture boxes to show it. Plus there might be other minor gui tweaks like displaying how many picture boxes depend on the particular picture etc. Code should be structured well into methods to simplify integration. Like I said, a lot of the actions described above as manual will actually happen programmatically by calls from a larger code base.
