Creation of Excel/Access formulas

The outcome of the first part of this project will be the simple creation of Excel/Access formulas/worksheets to assist with data concatenation/deconcatenation. A successful project will provide an Excel file with several examples working as well as a table/query approach in Access. The Excel and Access formulas created should successfully parse/de-concatenate an accounting string of numbers into separate columns and vice-versa. The concatenated string could be made of the following 6 values separated by dashes. DEPARTMENT = 6 characters numeric *will always exist (EX: 60000) FUND = 5 alpha characters *will always exist (EX: A0006) PROGRAM = (EX: AM06 or “-“) SITE = 6 characters numeric or “-“ (EX: 200021 or “-“) PROJECT = 8 characters numeric or “-“ (EX: 100050602 or “-“). There will never be one of these w/o associated activity code ACTIVITY = 3 characters numeric or “-“ (EX: 101 or “-“). There will never be one of these w/o associated project code If any one of the basic format rules are invalid, the text “INVALID FORMAT” should be placed in that respective cell instead of the parsed value.
