c++ Expert Project (.NET Profiler API's_

This project is to build the interface to the CLR profiling API's so we can extract profile information about a running process (memory and function) An explanation of the API's are found here: [login to view URL](v=vs.110).aspx An article on how to build a profiler is here: [login to view URL] There are a couple commercial applications that do this (and more) that use this same API. These are RedGate's ANTS Profiler and dotTrace by JetBrains. You can play with these applications to get an idea of what we are after (but much simpler) The profiler interface must be written in c++ and expose interface (WCF? so I can call it from a c# gui). I have provided a prototype that I had built that is not complete and does not function properly, but does have the basic building blocks of what we need - c++ interface - expose to WCF - c# client I have provided the following things - interface definitions that we need to implement from so we can call this dll from c# - mockup of the UI to test this functionality. The UI does not have to be perfect, but we need a way to test it - prototype of milestone 1. 80% complete. Milestone 1: - attach to process and do something on memory side (done) - attach to process and do something on call performance side (works, but only with started processes, not attached processes) The interface has 2 sections, one about performance profiling, one about memory capture. Performance Sequence: - Call to attach to process. This call takes in some filtering instructions for capture. - information is gathered up in memory as application runs - call is made to end profile capture and get results Memory Sequence: - call to attach to process - calls to get information about objects in memory
