C language development of Win32 DLL that extracts text from MS Access format files

The high level requirement/deliverable of the project is the design, development and implementation of a software component in the form of a Win32 Dynamic Link Library (the “DLL”). The DLL MUST extract all printable text from named Microsoft Access format files [Access 97 (Jet 3) and Access 2000/2002 (Jet 4)] and MUST make that extracted text and associated information available to the caller of the DLL via the requested method (as per the attached technical specification). Over and above the general high-­‐level requirement, the DLL has the following functional requirements: • MUST be compiled and linked to run on a Win32 platform. • MUST be written in ANSI standard C. • MUST NOT have any platform-­‐specific dependencies within the source code (over and above any requirements in order to run on the Win32 platform in the first place). • MUST NOT have any requirement or dependency on .NET, Java or any other framework. • MUST fully implement ALL relevant exported functions defined in section 2.3 of the attached technical specification. • MUST adhere to the coding standards described in section 2.6 of the attached technical specification and adhere to all other requirements of the attached technical specification. The DLL will be deployed in a commercial software package. Therefore it: • MUST NOT have any dependency on copyrighted software or infringe in any way on the intellectual property rights of any other party. • MAY have dependencies on open source software providing that the licence under which that open source software is made available permits its deployment in a commercial software package with no obligation other than acknowledgement of the open source software that is being used. The author of the DLL MUST declare any use of open source software, MUST provide full details of the location from which it was obtained and MUST provide reference to the licence under which that open source software is made available.
