As rural population in India continues to rely on irregular agricultural incomes while the urban people are incessantly hoping for more secured jobs, which is dropping off by the day, the looming poverty threat stands as one of the major impediments in the growth of Indian economy.
Poverty remains as one of the major concerns of all Indian economists and sociologists. Uneven distribution of wealth and income is an intimidating threat since the times of Indian independence. The current scenario depicts millions of Indians survive below adequate living standards and are severely deprived of a secured, comfortable lifestyle.
As stated by the World Health Organization (WHO), India’s living condition is getting worse by the day as today around 1/3rd of the India’s population survives below subsistence level. Amongst the whole, 21.1% of the rural and 15% of the urban populations in India endure under the worst living conditions.
