My people skills as well as accounting and bookkeeping skills are excellent. My experience with Profile and as a QuickBooks ProAdvisor makes me completely competent with this software program. I also have a vast knowledge and working experience with Microsoft Office. I am currently in Level 3 of the CGA program. Over the last 3 and a half years, I have acquired and utilized a vast background in Customer Service and auditing with Canada Revenue Agency. My knowledge and experience covers maintaining general ledgers and financial statements, posting journal entries, preparing trial balance of books, reconciling accounts and preparing other statistical, financial and accounting reports. I have extensive experience preparing and filing all tax and related forms including but not limited to HST, T4’s, WSIB etc.
Through my extended studies and my home business, I have kept current on book-keeping principles and accounting skills. My own business has given me many skills in dealing with difficult clients and collecting unpaid bills. I continually take courses to upgrade my abilities. I have taken many university accounting courses, Management accounting courses, Income Tax courses as well as Auditing courses and Cost Accounting courses. I have been trained and am adept at using the many computer applications necessary for financial accounting and reporting: AccPac, Simply Accounting, QuickBooks, email, MSWord, Excel, Access, Income Tax software and other similar computer applications. Integrating this knowledge with the skills needed for accounting positions is something I feel I have achieved.
I have also had experience working in an accounting office several years ago. At Source Point, I examined accounting records, analyzed financial documents and reports and created year end working papers and financial statements. I also finalized and printed T4 slips and government payments for small companies. Both of these positions required that I respond to clients’ inquiries and concerns with effective communication skills and an ability to efficiently explain reports to clients. I am extremely competent with numeracy, critical thinking, planning and organizing.
