  Please do not try to "add color" to areas to make them look more natural! And please save the background to the sides if possible. (if you zoom in, you should still see the pixels),

     Thank you for the entries! It is VERY important that you can still see the original pixels and their color! This is for a scientific task, and I am more trying to fix the artifacts than make the image itself look "better".

     The other imperfections are probably caused by the hardware taking the scan moving at that location.
